Tips For Selecting Carpet and Flooring
Good quality flooring will last for years whether in a rental unit or your own home, so it's worth doing right.
Ready to come to our store and see the flooring solutions we have to offer? Here are some tips to make choosing your new floor fun and easy.
-
Always bring measurements of the space you want to floor. A rough layout drawing with wall measurements is ideal (while it helps, scale isn’t necessary). These drawings will allow us to help you determine your seam placement along with the amount of flooring you’ll need. If you have blueprints or architectural drawings they work just as well. Our installation contractors also offer free in-home measurements, though for most projects it's not necessary unless vinyl is involved or the space is particularly complicated.
-
Bring in samples of other flooring in your home, particularly anything which will connect with the new floor. This is extremely helpful!
-
For choosing color, bring in paint samples from the walls, counter top samples, fabric samples from your furniture, etc. (couch cushions often work if you don’t have a sample of the fabric). If you have wooden baseboards a sample of them can also be very helpful.
-
We don’t cut samples from our carpet remnants, so if you'd like a "sample" to bring home a digital camera (even one in your cell phone) is a great tool.
